Why We Treat Diabetes*
The type 2 diabetes epidemic is one of America’s greatest health challenges. UnitedHealth Group, Inc. has predicted that half of all adult Americans will have diabetes by the end of the decade. In that ten years alone the disease will cost our nation $3.4 trillion.
Common treatments for diabetes do not work. Millions of diabetes sufferers increase their medications and insulin, but only experience more and more complications and pain. Their condition worsens and their quality of life drops.
Lifestyle changes CAN stop and reverse diabetes. There is hope. We have seen astounding results from lifestyle change.
- Fifty percent of type 2 diabetics who adopt the NEWSTART lifestyle are off their insulin and medications in as little as 18 days.
- Eighty percent of those who suffer from diabetic neuropathy are pain free in the same time period.
Medical Research Confirms: Lifestyle Change can Reverse Diabetes
Medical research confirms that up to 50% of people with Type 2 diabetes can eliminate diabetes risks and discontinue medication within three weeks by adopting a low-fat, plant food diet and regular daily exercise.

What Can You Expect?
Reverse Diabetes Outcomes
Here are just a few stories from people like you who have seen success.
“In November 2008 I weighed 303 lbs. I was drinking beer
about three times a week, gambling until all hours of the
night and eating a steady diet of McDonalds and Burger-
King. It became so bad that I began missing work.
My sister talked me into going to NEWSTART and
a couple of days later I was on a plane.”
“When I was 38, my doctor told me that I would not see 40,
but here I am, 45 years old and in very good health. Ten
years ago I became very ill. It took 9 months and nearly
20 different doctor’s visits to be diagnosed with sarcoidosis,
a rare autoimmune disease. The primary treatment for
this disease is prednisone, which suppresses the immune
system and comes with many side effects
including weight gain and it can lead to diabetes.”
“About ten years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
I was 435 lbs., and way out of shape with little to no exercise
and my eating habits were atrocious. Most people said they
‘eat to live’ but I ‘lived to eat.’ I was so sick in my desire for
what I thought was decent nourishment that I’d order a
bucket of chicken at KFC, gobble it all down fast, discard the
trash and air out the car by driving on the freeway in the
opposite direction from home for a while so that by the time I
got home my wife wouldn’t tell what had occurred. I didn’t
care how serious my diabetes was until I developed neuropathy
and it became too difficult for me to walk. My wife was in
major tears and could only see her husband throwing way
his life at an early age. She remarked that she could see her
husband with amputated legs and knocking on deaths door.”

Can NEWSTART Reverse Your Diabetes Condition?
- Diabetes is two different diseases. Type 1 diabetes is what used to be known as juvenile onset or child onset diabetes. Type 2 diabetes used to be know as adult onset diabetes. However people of any age can get either disease.
- Because in many cases of type 1 diabetes the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas have been destroyed, our program focuses on treating type 2 diabetes who can see a complete reversal of their disease.
- However, type 1 diabetics can expect to see reductions in their insulin dosages and stabilization of their blood sugar levels, making it easier to say within the normal range. Though most type 1 diabetics will always have to take insulin, they can greatly benefit from the NEWSTART Lifestyle.
