1. Can I bring a non-participating companion with me?
Yes, you can bring your husband or wife, son or daughter or friend with you as a non-participating companion, providing they are completely healthy. They will share your room with you and be entitled to attend all meals, lectures, cooking classes, exercise classes and general activities with you.
If you are unable to bathe and dress yourself, and if you cannot walk you will need to bring a caregiver or family member with you.
3. Will I have to share a room and bathroom with someone else?
Each health guest is allocated their own private room and bathroom.
4. Can family and friends visit me while I am there for 18-days?
Family and friends are most welcome during your stay here and may visit you when you have free time during the day or on the weekends. You will be able to purchase meal tickets so that they can have their meals with you.
5. Am I allowed to leave the campus to visit family and friends?
Anytime that you have free time you would be welcome to go and visit with family and friends in the area.
Fall & Winter: Late October Through March: The temperature during these months can get a bit chilly. The temperature ranges from the 30’s to 40’s at night, from 40’s to 70’s during the day. Rain is a definite possibility during these months, and we may be able to throw a few snowballs for a day or so in January, February, and March.
Spring & Summer: April Through Early October: The temperature during these months can get a bit warm ranging from the 40’s to 70’s at night and 70’s to 90’s during the day. The rainy season extends through May.
7. Is there a laundry facility?
Because you’ll be staying with us for 18 days, you’ll probably need to do some laundry before it’s time to go home. We have laundry facility, and will be happy to supply laundry soap and dryer sheets.
When you sign up for the program we will provide you with a check-list of recommended items to bring. All linens and towels are provided.
9. When would I need to arrive?
Each session begins on a Sunday. Arrival and registration is between 2.00 and 5.00 pm.
Transportation to and from the Sacramento airport can be arranged with Super Shuttle. Contact them at www.supershuttle.com or call 1-800-BLUEVAN (or 1-800-258-3826)
Departure is the third Thursday of the program. You can check-out anytime before 11.00am. After breakfast is the recommended check out time.
Sorry! Because we service people with numerous and varying health concerns, pets unfortunately are not an option in the Newstart Lodge.
12. How much does the program cost?
The total cost of the program depends on which options you choose. Please call us at 800.525.9192 and one of our consultants will be happy to discuss this with you.
13. Will my insurance pay for Newstart?
Some insurance companies will cover a portion of the medical services provided by the Newstart Medical Clinic, but because our program is a lifestyle program, the majority of insurance companies do not cover the program fee. If you are a resident of the USA, before you leave the Newstart program, the Newstart Medical Clinic will put in a claim for you with your health insurance. Neither the Newstart Medical Clinic or Weimar Center of Health & Education, however, can guarantee insurance coverage for any portion of your fees.
14. Can I claim Newstart on my tax returns?
You might be successful in deducting your program and medical fees, as well as your travel expenses, on your income tax returns. Please consult with your tax advisor for specifics.
15. Do you offer payment plans?
No, we do not offer payment plans at this time, however we gladly accept payment by credit card.
16. Can I work to pay off the Newstart Program?
No, unfortunately this is not possible.
17. Where can I find the Program Application?
You can download a PDF version of the NEWSTART Lifestyle Program Application from the bottom of the About the Program page.
